Are you working well?
Creating a happy and healthy working environment is a valuable move to boost working efficiency, improve focus, and optimise productivity. Especially at a time when a lot of us are finding ourselves working at home and sat in front of screens for hours a day, having the right stress-busting tools in your office or home workplace can be a game-changer.
17 million business days have been lost due to poor employee mental wellbeing between 2021 and 2022.
Nearly 60% of employees feel anxious in the workplace.
Employees are more likely to attend the office if there are office perks & support.
Looking after your employees' wellbeing can improve satisfaction, attitude and productivity.
Wellness is something we should ALL think about incorporating into our professional lives and is so important to us at Officeology.

Bringing nature indoors – Arranging Plants and other vibrant greenery around your office or home has been shown to significantly increase your mood, clean the air, stabilise the humidity levels and reduce stress by creating a mediative state of calm.
Lighting up your life – ‘Blue light’ given off from all the digital screens we have in our lives is disrupting our natural energetic flow, effecting rest and recovery and brain function. Eye strain, dry irritated eyes and sabotaging your sleep schedule because the blue light messes with your circadian rhythm (AKA your internal clock). Making a few small adjustments to your screen time habits and investing in some protective blue light blockers is worth exploring.
Do you use the right tools? – Hunched over your desk with poor working posture, rounded shoulders and hours fused in the same position often leads to tension headaches, muscular aches and pains, lower energy and limit your bodies functional mobility. Adding a short movement practice into your daily rituals and finding the right massage or soft tissue release tool for the job can completely transform your life. Reducing muscle tension, improving circulation, reducing stress levels, and keeping you functioning at your best.
When establishing well-being in the workplace, it’s important to remember the 5 pillars of wellbeing:
Keeping these pillars in mind to establish and improve well-being in the workplace will lead you straight to success. Whether you offer healthy snacks in the office, free yoga lessons, blue light protection products, good company culture and other benefits to help manage stress that is in line with the wellness pillars, your employees will be happier, healthier, motivated, inspired and productive.
There are several ways on how you can keep your office healthy for you and your employees. First, investing in some standing desks can be a great choice as it’ll enable employees to both sit and stand during the day which will help improve posture, regain focus and stretch their legs too.
You can also promote healthy eating and drinking habits by having water readily available and healthy snacks in the office – to take it one step further offering free exercise classes at work as a perk can be a fantastic stress buster.
Office plants can also greatly benefit an employee’s mood as well as clean and purify the air, stabilise the humidity levels and create a sense of calm in the workplace. Check our out guide to the best plants you can buy for the office.
Promoting staff well-being and creating a safe, secure, confidential and comfortable workplace where employees feel they will be listened to and heard can be a tricky process. It’s not enough for management to simply say you value staff well-being, it needs to be something that is continually shown.
Some things you can do to help promote staff well-being is to make recognition a regular part of your company’s culture. Recognising an employee’s hard work with a few words of thanks will go a long way. Enabling continuous learning and offering courses to help advance their career will increase employee satisfaction and engagement. Promoting mental health in the workplace, contributing to gym memberships, and encouraging the practice of mindfulness are also all ways you can start promoting staff well-being today.
